THE JOURNEY...

Welcome to my blog..My name is Christy Hicks, I am a single mom from Loganville, GA. My life changed forever on 2/6/2014, I went to the ER thinking I had a kidney stone and left diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer, covering 70% of my liver.

I have been on a wild ride over these last 16 months. I searched every where I could find for an answer to help save my life and to be honest the answer was there when I was first tested for the cancer and I was to afraid to accept it. I traveled the country looking for answers only to be told I needed chemo and I would live possibly 12 months. I could not and would not accept those answers. So, I went back to where I started and now 16 into this diagnosis I am 98% cancer free. Yes, 98%... I am still on the cancer wagon and fighting every day for my life. I decided to blog my journey so that every one that loves me would know the process of my recovery and to share my story of hope and inspiration with people that don't know me but may be facing the same fate I was told I was facing. The great news my Dr. Chamsuddin destroyed all the original tumors and in Jan of 2015 5 new tumors appeared from no where. I have had another Y90 treatment 4/2/2015 and praying for the best news that those tumors are dead and gone and that nothing new has shown up... with my pet scan coming up the end of May

This isn't an easy journey and I have been able to share the good and bad days and to let the world know that liver cancer is not a death sentence it can be managed and I am living proof of that! Thanks to an amazing doctor, Dr. Chamsuddin At Newton Medical Center in Covington, GA.

My blogs are numbered if you would like to read the journey in order or read them randomly I think there is a message for us all in each and every one of these blogs. Thanks for reading and following my blog .. A journey of life and hope for the future day by day of my life as long as I can beat and maintain this cancer. I may never be cured but I am hopeful to just keep it at bay, fight it off when I have to and enjoy the times that I can sit back and just relax.
